Exactly! I am amazed with these "progressives" who talk about how we
all need more diversity and tolerance but do not demonstrate much of
it themselves.

Does this include all religions or do you just pick the ones you don't
want questioned?

probably come around to the view that Islam was the "official"

Well, not if you were in America and ever went to school..

I think you're forgetting that the purpose of this exercise is to put

is that the parents in "other" religions resent having their children
surrounded by christian religious symbols. I think that's
understandable.

I find it interesting that the left extols the virtue of exposing
children to diversity and alternate lifestyles but, somehow trying to
tolerate religious diversity is evil.

They don't seem to understand the difference between tolerance and
"establishment"

If a government advanced one religion to the exclusion of all others,
that is clearly unconstitutional but if they allow the exercise of any
of them it is complying with the actual words on the page.

Huh, don't know your bible very well, eh? YOU may be stoned to death!!!

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the
priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil
must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to
death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.
(Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to
death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their
death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the
woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 NLT)

A priest's daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and
thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death. (Leviticus
21:9 NAB)

Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed.
(Exodus 22:19 NAB)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers,
with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord,
the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great,
whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you
that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens
astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you
must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove
that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that
town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the
livestock. (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT)

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife,
or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom
you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at
hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield
to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield
him, but kill him. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)

Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest
they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with
tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)

Cursed be he who does the Lords work remissly, cursed he who holds back
his sword from blood. (Jeremiah 48:10 NAB)

Though there are no verses in the New Testament that advocate the
killing of non-believers.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and
hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that
curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Matthew 5:43-44 KJV)

That is the old testament. Are you slamming the Jews now too?

I'm not "slamming" anybody, I'm showing the truth, that there is PLENTY
of violence in the Bible. Since when is the book of Matthew in the old
testament?

Gosh, we have muslims down here in souf' Maryland. How do I know?
There's a mosque right across the street from the hospital, and the
hospital is on the main north-south road hereabouts.

Sometimes I see actual muslims entering or leaving the mosque for prayer
or study and sometimes I see actual muslims mowing the lawn or tending
the shrubbery around their mosque. I see local christians doing much the
same.

Amazing, isn't it?

The only visually annoying churchfolk down here are the catholics, who
put up a display every year of several hundred little crosses,
supposedly representing the number of fetuses aborted daily or weekly,
or whatever, along with anti-abortion signs. It's on the church's
property, so they can do what they like. Funny, though that there's
nothing displayed but crosses. I guess only christian fetuses are
aborted, eh?

tell you that it's the end all, it's not to be questioned, and to do so

means that you will be subjected to a very violent death!

Complete BS. Christians can, and do, question their faith all the time. The only thing they tell you about being a non-believer happens *after* your death, it doesn't cause it. Sheesh.

Huh, don't know your bible very well, eh? YOU may be stoned to death!!!

Cite me the last time someone was stoned to death by Christians in the US. Or anywhere on the globe.

Does that include bombings?

No. You wrote "YOU may be stoned to death!!!" You don't get to move the goalpost now. Your statement was complete BS. Christians don't stone non-believers. Haven't in 500 years. No mainstream Christian churches teach or follow the scripture you quoted.

Muslims stoned Christians in Dearborn last year.

Bull****.

No more BS than your statement that Christians will stone you. That was a lie.

Well, I'm glad that you admit that killing those who don't tow the
Christian line is acceptable. And here's some examples of those oh, so
tolerant Christians:

Again, I'm happy that you as a Christian are okay with barbaric acts of
murder except for stoning.

Nope, never said that. I said you couldn't include it in a discussion of your false statement. Care to quote me saying anything other than "No"?

You can stop digging your hole any time now. You're about to hit China, and you're sounding a bit insane.

You aren't very bright, are you? There is text after text after text IN
THE BIBLE about stoning people to death. So, it is what it is,
Christians condone the act of stoning people to death, among other
horrific deaths. Ever hear of the Salem witch hunts?
The alleged Jesus said "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a
sword", ever hear of that? Holy wars?

"Beginning after the Civil War, members of the Protestant-led[64] Ku
Klux Klan organization began engaging in arson, beatings, cross burning,
destruction of property, lynching, murder, rape, tar-and-feathering, and
whipping against African Americans, Jews, Catholics, and other social or
ethnic minorities.
They were explicitly Christian terrorist in ideology, basing their
beliefs on a "religious foundation" in Christianity.[65] The goals of
the KKK included, from an early time on, an intent to "reestablish
Protestant Christian values in America by any means possible," and
believe that "Jesus was the first Klansman."[66] Their cross-burnings
were conducted not only to intimidate targets, but to demonstrate their
respect and reverence for Jesus Christ, and the lighting ritual was
steeped in Christian symbolism, including the saying of prayers and
singing of Christian hymns.[67] Many modern Klan organizations, such as
the Knights Party, USA, continue to focus on the Christian supremacist
message, asserting that there is a "war" on to destroy "western
Christian civilization."

It seems it's *you* that isn't very bright, and a bit craaazy. You attributed several things to me that I never wrote. Now you've gone off on this diatribe that has nothing to do with the original false statement from you.

The fact is: Mainstream Christian churches do not stone non-believers, and do not believe or teach any such things. A few nutcase factions (from pretty much all walks of life, incuding christians and muslims and next door neighbors) do some very bad things. It's very narrow-minded of you to try to paint Christianity with that narrow, insane brush of yours.

Have a nice day.
