A 14-year-old Detroit girl says that a neighbor shot and killed JoJo,
her 1-year-old Chihuahua, because he wasn’t on a leash and was making
too much noise.

The licensed gun owner, however, told police that he gunned down the
tiny dog because it was threatening him.

The girl, who WJBK declined to identify, said that she had gone inside
for a few minutes while JoJo ran free in the yard. When she came back
outside, the neighbor warned her to take the dog back in the house.

“When he saw my dog running out of the bushes, [he said], ‘I’m going
to handle him myself,’ and then I guess my dog had run back up on him
again, and he just shot him,” the teen recalled as she cradled the
dead dog in a blanket.

“His life couldn’t have felt threatened at all by this little
Chihuahua,” she explained.

Detroit Police determined that the neighbor was a licensed gun owner.

The dog was carrying a soft drink and a bag of Skittles.

No one defended anyone. I posted what was in the story before edited by jps.

Why won't you tell us your 'special circumstances', ESAD. Was it just more bull****?

I never liked a chihuahua. Little nervous yappers. Not saying I'd
shoot it, but that would be more humane than slamming it against a
tree or a sidewalk.

I never really liked them either. Ankle biters. But when Mrs.E's
"Westie" died, she decided to get a toy Chihuahua. I begged her not
to because we already have Sam Adams (the black lab) and "Fudge",
whatever he is. I think he's part wolf. Mrs. E. rescued him from an
abusive owner as a puppy and now full grown, he only likes my wife and
me. Anyone else risks losing an arm or leg if you go near him
without us reassuring him it's ok.

But, she wanted a small, personal pet to go along with them and her
two 1,000 lb hay burners out in the barn. So, next thing I know
"Rosie the Chihuahua" arrived. Ugliest dog I've ever seen but I have
to admit, she's a fun little dog. Nervous around people she doesn't
know but has quite the personality.

I'll never get out of here. Dogs, horses, grandkids, ..... whew!

In High School, a friend of mine had a miniature, or toy Chihuahua,
and it's favorite pastime was to hop up on the couch, lick your
fingers then start humping your hand.

I never did like Chihuahua's.
