Well, maybe. I have *e#c bozo-binned several different ways, along with
only a few other posters here, including your old buddy, but they both
keep trying. Another moron in my bozo bin changes his handle a bit every
couple of days, and only is here to comment about me in an idiotic way.
But he isn't "binned" on his handle or email address. He'll never figure
it out. (Yes, Earl, I mean you.) I have a couple of other idiots down
there in the bin.

I keep PsychoSnotty out of the bin for reasons you suggested in another
post. It's fun to watch him misinterpret everything in the news,
everything posted here, and his belief that everyone he doesn't like
here is me. He's a genuine crackpot and I am convinced he's the same in
his real life, and one of these days he'll shoot one of his neighbors in
Windsor.

I guess I don't share in your pleasure of witnessing people's problems
or perceived problems or seeing them twist and turn with their
rebuttals. There's something bizarre about that for me.

Don't get me wrong. I am not professing any "goody-goody" attitude.
I have often enjoyed some of the debates and especially some of the
humor that is expressed from time to time. But, it should be
light-hearted IMO and not mean spirited. You are a wordsmith and can
clobber people sometimes who don't have your expertise with prose.
So what? That doesn't make them any less of a person.

Whatever. I'll try to stick to my style and way of expressing
myself. Others have the same right.

Any number of people, even a few who might actually be friends of
Scotty, have suggested that he try to calm down and get control of his
emotions here. I have suggested that to him, and told him a couple of
times that there were mental health counselors in his area who might be
able to help him with anger management and other issues on a sliding
scale fee basis. When he called me on the phone a few years ago, I
offered him ways to get needed medications for nothing or next to
nothing, and to get access to physicians who would accept a sliding
scale fee basis. His response? That someone would be "compensated" for
offering him help. An absurdity.

There also have been attempts by some of those Scotty thinks are his
enemies to just treat him civilly and give him a pass on his insane
utterings. That doesn't work, either.

I'm no paragon of behavior here, but I don't lose my temper and lash out.

Interestingly, I have about 65 "close" friends on Facebook, and I am in
several groups with nearly 1000 people I've never met, and we have none
of the insulting bull**** there that pervades this newsgroup. Once in a
while, we get a Florida Jim who thinks he is going to rise up in the
ranks by personally insulting others in the groups. That sort of poster
loses his access, really fast.

I might be up in New Haven in a few weeks for my first trip this year to
the old stomping grounds. I plan to share at least one clam pie for
dinner at Pepe's, and to check out Katz's deli on the Woodbridge side of
the Merritt Parkway bridge over Whalley Avenue. A lot of my old friends
like it:

http://katzsdeli.net/menus/deli/

I'm pretty sure we won't be mooning cars from the top of the tunnel, as
we used to do in the 7th grade:

----------------------------------------

For some reason I can't exactly place that tunnel, although I remember
the Merritt Parkway and Whalley Ave.
I got my first driver's license in CT. When allowed to use one of my
parent's cars for a date, I somehow often ended up on top of West
Rock, by the tunnel on the Wilbur Cross Parkway. I remember the
winding, "S" turns climbing to the parking spots on the top. Never
had much time up there as it was always patrolled by the police
looking to "bust" you and your girlfriend just for the fun of it.

I remember the Wilbur Cross Parkway was concrete at the time. Miles
and miles of "ker-plunk, ker-plunk, ker-plunk, ker-plunk" as the tires
hit the expansion joints.

Les Shaw's restaurant was on "our" side of the tunnel. I worked
there for a while as a bus-boy wearing a stupid chef's hat, apron and
bandana, walking around the dining room handing out "popovers" to
anyone who wanted one. My girlfriend and her entire family (her
idea) decided to have dinner there one night, unknown to me, and I
was mortified with embarrassment. Les Shaw's is one of the last
restaurants I can remember that required a jacket and tie for the guys
to be seated. They actually kept small inventory of them in the coat
room that could be borrowed if you didn't wear one and wanted to have
dinner. Don't know if Les Shaw's still exists. Probably closed.
The link is a picture ... taken in the 50's but it looks about how I
remember it from the 60's.

The tunnel *is* the one on the Wilbur Cross/Merritt Parkway...the tunnel
was renamed "Heroes' Tunnel. I think I remember reading something about
Les Shaw's closing. It certainly was one of "the" places to go for a
fancy dinner back in the day.

Never "parked" on West Rock. We usually watched the submarine races by
the beach on the east side of Milford Harbor, or along the shoreline in
West Haven, or, along the road past the fence that led to the Yale Golf
Course.
