Mexico, just north of P.F., also on the right hand side, very good Mexican food, and where I usually have my oversized once a year margarita. Ever think of sandwiching yourself into an airplane between two fat smelly people and doing a flyover instead? Been there, done that, it sucks! My wife is the navigator. She's got the little ipad or pod or whatever the hell it is that connects to the internet while we're traveling. She also bought a book called, "Next Exit" which is a great source of info while traveling on the interstates. The trailer we bought is nice in that everything can be used without using the slideouts. That was one of the main criteria in choosing it. Many of the floor pans don't allow access to refer's, stoves, sinks, couches, etc. when the slides are in. That means 'setting up' to spend the night somewhere. We can pull in to a 'Flying J' and spend the night with all the comforts - and it's free! Salmonbait -- 'Name-calling'...the liberals' last resort. |

There is a lot of beautiful country between here and Seattle - going the northern, middle, or southern routes. I've never found the trip, which I've made by car twice now, to be boring or 'blech'. Besides, I like visiting the Left Coast, though the long flights are not something I enjoy. If I had to go, and could afford the time, I'd plan a month or two, take the trailer, and see the country. There is a lot of beautiful country between here and Seattle - going the northern, middle, or southern routes. I've never found the trip, which I've made by car twice now, to be boring or 'blech'. Yeah, Kansas can get dull, so go thru Minnesota and North Dakota and Wyoming instead. I've never met another person who thought this country was 'blech' for the most part. But, each to his own. Salmonbait -- 'Name-calling'...the liberals' last resort. I don't like driving long distances. We visit Florida a few times a year for various reasons, and most of the time we either fly or take the train. The drive isn't bad if we break it up and spend the night in a motel somewhere, but driving straight through is not something we enjoy. I've had trips to Minnesota, the Dakotas, Wyoming and Montana, and there are plenty of beautiful places, but I've never felt the need to drive there to get to them when I can fly there and rent a car. We then looped around through Montana and spent a few days at Coeur D'alene. That is another nice place. http://gfretwell.com/ftp/Idaho%20Wyo...ne%20Idaho.jpg We all saw beach volley ball on TV but they play in the mud in Idaho. http://gfretwell.com/ftp/Idaho%20Wyo...0Arco%20ID.jpg Some great shots. Don't know if I'd want to drag the trailer up that first road, but there's probably a campsite down below. Mud volleyball looks like it could be an interesting thing to watch, depending on the players. Did you rent the boat at Coeur D'alene? Where'd you pick up the stunning beauty? Oh and you can change your ticket or even get your money back. It is like what flying used to be 40 years ago, inflation adjusted, about the same price. I used to fly several times a week. On occasion I got bumped to FC. To me, it isn't worth the extra cost. Flying ain't what it used to be. I dread the prospect of ever having to fly again. But, of course, to each his own. That is why we pick a state or two and spend 2-3 weeks there. Things are far enough apart, even then. I love to travel by car when I have the time. Most people think of going from PA to FL as being on I-95, I don't. I don't know how many times I've made the trip on how many different routes. All of them very enjoyable to me. I've got a meeting in Philly coming up this fall. It's only for a few days and I won't have the time to go wandering before or after the meeting. Been to Philly many times; my dad was born there, and lived in Elkins Park. Later, the family moved to Massachusetts. Anyway, I'm sure I'll go up there and back on Amtrak. From you to Philly there isn't very much to see! |
