Actually, studies show that drug use goes down when drugs are legalized.
But then again, someone as narrow minded as you wouldn't know that.
In the U.S. we tried Prohibition to curb alcohol use. The result? A lot
of alcoholics and death from illegally made alcohol. That would tell a
normal person something, but I'm sure it's lost on you.

I agree the drug war is stupid but it is a jobs program, not only for
the cops but for otherwise unemployable inner city kids.
In some neighborhoods the illegal drug trade is the main source of
money coming into the area.
Much like the runaway pentagon budget and cuts, there are lots of
people who depend on drugs being illegal.

Give me a ****in break. Everything that you don't like is a "jobs
program". As misguided as it is, it's not a ****in jobs program.
Jeesus what a bunch of bull****.

Drug dealing is the biggest employer in parts of some cities,
particularly among the otherwise unemployable. You can't ignore a
million dollar enterprise in a place where the median income is less
than $20,000

Drug dealing? You think that's where the power is? Not any more man, you
all are missing it. The dealers are little fish, now that 90% of the pot
sold is domestic rather than imported, they want in on that. Do you
really think Cali legalized out of compassion? LOL! They took control of
the cultivation, that's where the taxes are. At the same time they have
diluted the quality and increased the price as most of the better
growers sell to private folks in smaller circles, and are not interested
in screwing with the tax man... or the crime/attention that surrounds
those clubs.

And while we are at it... whoever said legalization leads to less use,
is full of ****, period.

That would be Reagan that said that, then Bush I then Bush II.

So, it's free enterprise, not some gov't jobs program. As I said, give
me a break.

Where did I say "Federal" jobs program. I only said it was the biggest
part of the economy in those areas. Most of this money is in heroin,
crank and crack.

As for the pot, I know people in Colorado who say they have the best
pot in the country, far better than the ragweed that they used to get
from Mexico. It is also very expensive. The government tacks on a tax
of around $50 an oz. ($400 an oz is not uncommon). I did not partake
when I was there a couple years ago. (No RX card)
It is yet to see if competition brings down the price.

If it's free enterprise, then it isn't a "jobs" program. More
right-wing playbook wordplay. Give us a break.

You think exactly like Loogie.

You think exactly like a moron. Sorry if the contradiction hurts your
head.

When you said "the biggest part of the economy" I thought you were
talking about Govt. operations. It's a natural assumption.

The $300 billion dollar government operation is not insignificant and
it threatens our liberty more than the war on terror.
Virtually all of the decisions that have degraded our 4th and 5th
amendment rights, came from the drug war, not the terror war.
(unwarranted car searches, stop and frisk policies and civil
forfeiture where your property is the criminal, with no rights to a
defense)
They also use unwarranted taps, not to develop a court case, just to
"get lucky" on one of those warrantless searches.

This also swells the prison population to the point that the US has
the highest incarceration rate of any other democracy in the world.

What threatens are liberty and all the folks who want to gut social
programs in the name of a made up debt problem.

That is the problem. Our economy is tried too closely to the

Bull**** right wing voodoo economics...

The real voodoo is bragging about a 2% growth rate when the debt is
growing at 7%.

There is no ****ing debt crisis while the economy is still struggling.
SHOW ME WHERE I BRAGGED OR ANYONE BRAGGED ABOUT THE 2% GROWTH?

You don't know much, but you're all about your great experience and
words of wisdom from working as a drudge at IBM.
