A minor correction:



The maternity leave regulations in Norway have two different time

periods to be choosen from:



a) 44 weeks with 100% of regular wages, OR

b) 54 weeks with 80% of regular wages.



As per january 2013, the maximum annual maternity leave payment provided

by the public social welfare system in Norway is limited to NOK 492,732

(equal to approx. US$ 91,250).

Well, you americans and canadians are actually sending loads of money to

Norway - sort of...



As some of you may know, a substantial part of the income to the

Norwegian state budget is from exporting crude oil and natural liquid

gas.



Currently, around 15-20% of the total annual production of crude oil in

Norway is exported to refineries on the east coast of USA and Canada, so

whenever you on the east coast of North-America is buying your gallons

of gasoline for whatever purpose, it's possible that some of that

gasoline origin from crude oil exported from Norway...



And as a certain portion of the Norwegian oil companies income end up in

the big pot called "state budget", that's why one - sort of - can say

that you in North-America is contributing to the social welfare system

in Norway.....

They are the biggest customers for our natural gas, oil, hydro electricity etc.
BTW..wife's father came from Norway during WW2. Would she be eligible for any of the benefits of Norwegian riches?
