Default Hunter 146 opinions?

Richard - it great to get the kids sailing early, just so many benefits.
Two thoughts on your son's sailing. First check out the youth programs that
sailing organizations have and take a close look at the Optimist Pram
fleet(s), this is the coolest sailing/racing program I have ever witness!
These youth programs (and other kids) will keep your son interested in
sailing. Secondly - it sounds as if you are associated with the Univ. if
so you may be able to use the Univ. club boats, if not become a sponsor to
the sailing club, for sure you will be able to use the boats.

Dear group:
I am new to the group, but hope you can give me some advice. I used
to own an O'Day Daysailer 1995-2002, but finally donated it to the
university sailing club since we weren't going out much. Why not?
The boat was old and I had an new baby and there just wasn't time.
Now, my son is five and I'd like to sail more, but without some of
the hassles of the daysailer. Those included:
- took a long time and 2 people to step the mast
- perennial repairs (boat not in good shape when I bought it)
- really a bit big for me to singlehand
- our trailer was old and rickety and I always worried about it

The Hunter 146 looks to me like it solves these problems, but I'd
appreciate any comments from someone with first-hand experience with
this boat or any other small Hunters (JY15,140,170). My plan is to
buy a new boat and trailer rather than try to save money like last
time.

Thanks,
Richard
