How did this bozo...
....obtain those firearms?
Killer of 2 NY firemen had semiautomatic rifle WEBSTER, N.Y. (AP) — Police say the man who lured firefighters in Webster, N.Y., into a deadly ambush had the same make and caliber semiautomatic rifle as the one used in the Connecticut school massacre. Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering said Tuesday that 62-year-old William Spengler was armed with a .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle, a ..38-caliber revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun in Monday’s ambush. Spengler killed two firefighters and wounded two others before fatally shooting himself. Police have not said which weapon or weapons were used to shoot the firefighters. Spengler, who set his house on fire to lure the first responders, left a note saying he wanted to burn down the neighborhood and kill as many people as possible. But the note didn’t give a motive for the shooting. - - - |

When those work out, we can pass laws against undefinable categories of firearms. Yeah, that ought to fix EVERYTHING! Or, since laws clearly don't fix everything, we may as well not have any. Or, more precisely, laws don't fix ANYTHING. A law MIGHT punish people AFTER COMMISION OF A CRIME, but since the very first law it has been abundantly clear that it didn't PREVENT any sort of behavior. Prohibition prevented the ownership of alcoholic beverages, much the same as people now seem bent on "preventing" ownership of certain poorly defined guns. How did that work out? Haven't we learned ANYTHING from history? And, yes, constantly trying to judicially stick your finger in the dike is a fools errand. Fewer laws would not be a bad thing. Wow...you're a libertarian looney. Figures. |
