Sensible? Me? That's a laugh. You do have a point though. There's an
awful lot of snarkiness, insulting, threats and splitting of hairs to
wade through to find an interesting post or two, not that my standards
are that high. But what is the point of reading through a hundred or
more posts to find a good boating discussion?

I use my filters when I get into to a new group... after three or four
bad, insulting, or just plain trollish posts I quickly learn who to
watch and who not to.. Admittedly there are a few here who probably have
me binned, so be it but I have made an effort since our main instigator
left us a couple weeks back... He was don's best bud and don seems to be
trying to keep the flames going for him.. Stick around, adjust your
filters, there are still some pretty cool folks here.

Oh, ok. 666-6666, extension 666. Just ask for NATAS.

Seriously, my humble opinion is that the seemingly endless snarkiness
and insulting turns off new posters and chills conversation. It sure
makes it difficult to read a thread, at least for me, because when I
come across examples of what I've mentioned, I tend to stop reading the
thread.

This morning, one poster here whose ID I won't mention, apparently
wished another poster were either dead or sick.

Well, that surely entices decent newbies to hang around, doesn't it?
He's not the only example of being nasty to others, either.

My interests in boating go beyond ice boats. Mainly I am interested in
wind or self powered boats, but I like all sorts of boats and I have
other interests too. Treating other people like **** though isn't among
them.

Well, you've got rec.boats...building, cruising, electronics, kayak, marketplace, paddle, paddle
touring, paddle whitewater, racing, racing power, and sailing. One or more of those may be of more

There used to be a lot of sailing discussed on 'cruising'. Don't know if it still is or not. Could

Rather than having to filter out at least half the baker's dozen of

You have no idea what it used to be like, just a short few weeks ago.
Just google back a few weeks and see for yourself. The thing with don
and slammer just went ballistic a few weeks back too and that is what it
is... Anyway, many of us are trying to lick the wounds of 15 years of
"the poster I wish were dead", and don isn't helping. As to harry, yes,
I wish he were not here for the last fifteen years, saying nasty things
about my family and children, chasing my business customers and
threatening to interfere with said business, posting info on the
business and even some of my more conservative customers, running
background checks on posters here and using that info to slander and
smear them and myself and who knows who else, chasing other female
posters to their marinas, taking pictures of them on the sneak and
posting them here driving them from the group, I could go on... Yes, my
hatred for harry does not make me proud but I am not alone, I am just
the only one willing to admit it... And sure, I have fought with him
over the years and even had my go with slammer but I fixed it, and let
it go... I didn't go chasing him around like don has been doing to
slammer for weeks (slammer is e#c# or whatever). Don goes after me just
about each and every post he makes but I pretty much ignore him too and
we did our thing a while back.. Most here will tell you I have been
pretty much trying to stay out of the crap for a while now, especially
lately, as I am very busy with another project of my own.... I am not
here throwing any insults at anybody with each and every post, I am not
chasing posters around the net to other groups like one of the folks
here is, I am willing to talk boats even if I don't know as much as some
others here.... But yes, for the things harry has said about my
children and myself and wife over the years, I do hate him... I can't
deny that...

wished another poster were either dead or sick.

Well, that surely entices decent newbies to hang around, doesn't it?
He's not the only example of being nasty to others, either.

My interests in boating go beyond ice boats. Mainly I am interested in
wind or self powered boats, but I like all sorts of boats and I have
other interests too. Treating other people like **** though isn't among
them.

Well, you've got rec.boats...building, cruising, electronics,
kayak,marketplace, paddle, paddle
touring, paddle whitewater, racing, racing power, and sailing.
One or more of those may be of more
interest. But, it doesn't hurt to do as one poster suggested, use
a filter here and there.

There used to be a lot of sailing discussed on 'cruising'. Don't
know if it still is or not. Could
be it's become a cess pool like this place. A few folks just
?won't quit.

Rather than having to filter out at least half the baker's dozen of
posters here, wouldn't it be better to try to get the insulters to behave
or to just ignore them all of them entirely? I'm already not reading
a couple of posters here because, well, frankly, they're just obnoxious
and looking for a fight or dropping an insult with just about everything
they post here. If I filter out more posters, there won't be many left
here to read. :)

The pièce de résistance for me came today when one poster wished another
poster was sick or dead and another poster seemed to threaten yet another
poster with murder. The question that should be asked is why are such
posters tolerated?

Oh, and as far as "wishing someone bad things".... Go back and do a
search on x-man or hthek or harrykrause.. or any of the other nyms he
has used over the years.. He wishes someone dead for simple political
beliefs, almost every day once or twice with the 40-50 posts a day we
used to see from him... Just sayin'.

Trust me, simply saying "Please" won't do the trick.

This morning one poster wanted another to die.
Later one poster threatened another poster.
Now this guy is accusing a poster of being another poster.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Are you back on crack cocaine?
Anyone can do a search on you and find posts over in the alt.guitar.bass where you were posting personal info about Slammer/e#c and indicating that you found info on him in more groups. That's how I got the info I needed, thanks to you.
It was between late 2010 and Feb of 2011.

I guess we will see soon enough as the line gets drawn... Seems don has
posted by far the most personal attacks in the last week, and even has
been chasing me and another poster to another group.. Simple math, but
he has said nothing about that. I say 8 in 10 chances you are correct...

Still, I hope not...
