Default Anybody want to read a boating post?

Just in case, my article about a visit to what's left of an old boom
town off the W coast of Canada covers an unusual destination.

On pages 69, 70 and 71 there are pictures of a Dufffy electric boat
just like the one my neighbor has - no exotic technology, just a bunch
of golf cart batteries.

Back before I came to SW, a fellow I know who was a retired Whelen
Engineering, Engineer had a bunch of old wheelchair motors and wanted
to make a copy of this boat. That is the same guy I talk about
sometimes who has the two electric cars. This is a great boat from
what I can see and when we ran the numbers for our 12/24 volt system,
they looked pretty good...

We were vacationing in Napa a few years ago, and did a Napa River tour. I'm pretty sure the tour boat was a version of a Duffy. It was a pretty cool boat, perfectly suited for that kind of service.

I looked into them a lot back then. Double enders, beautiful design like
you said for that purpose... Very efficient hulls, great boats. I would
own one if I could.
