Credit cards are one of the reasons the American economy is in the shape it is in, now. They use less credit cards because they are not accepted as many places as here. Friends have a small donut shop. Customers want to use a credit card for a 2 dollar purchase of coffee and donut. They would lose money on the sale as there is a $0.24 transaction fee minimum in place of a percentage charge. Same for Debit cards, they have to pay fee. Europe merchants would not accept a card in a small place like a donut shop. Lots of B&B's do not take credit cards. And if you get out of the bigger cities and towns lots of merchants do not accept cards at all. I use credit cards a lot as I get a percent back on the AMEX and miles on the Master Card. They never carry a balance, so not interest charges. |

When you get out of the Euro zone, they may not have any connectivity at all. Would you really want your vacation to depend on an Italian or Greek's bank's switch working? I was more talking about our economy and infrastructure, etc. Our geography alone makes things a lot different for business... I don't expect kevin to get anywhere near that... |
