Default About undercoating for Don.

Notice, if you will, the part "and some automakers will void the factory
corrosion perforation warranty if the car is undercoated by a third
party"......

Rust-proofing

Although new cars no longer need it and some automakers will void the
factory corrosion-perforation warranty if the car is undercoated by a
third-party, this hasn't stopped some dealerships from promoting
undercoating as a dealer option, says Mike Quincy, auto content
specialist at the Consumer Reports Auto Test Center in East Haddam,
Conn.

"Cars leaving the factories today all have excellent rust-proofing,"
Quincy says.

"(Dealers) have an incentive to do it because there's a fair amount of
markup they can get on these services," he says.

Dealer-applied undercoating can range from $200 to $1,200, depending on
the car, the type of treatment package (basic or premium), and whether
it includes an extra option, such as sound-deadening. Moreover, rust-
proofing can be sold to the new car buyer as a separate dealer option or
be included in a pricey bundle called an "environmental protection
package" that also can include paint sealant and fabric protection

Duh!
You're quoting from a different environment.
We're considered an extreme environment for rust problems caused by
salt air and relentless application of road salt caused by endless
freeze/thaw cycles during the winter.
I imagine the factory applied rust protection works just fine in
Snellville, Georgia.

Where the hell is Snellville, Ga to start with? But, did you notice the
part about it voiding the factory warranty? And did you notice it made
NO mention of "environment"?

Rav4 "trucks" need aftermarket rustproofing in harsh environment. Your
comments only apply to Rav4 cars/SUVs used in a civilized environment.

He's full of ****. When I hauled Cars, I saw the underside of
EVERYTHING that the Big 3 produce. The Jeep WJ is the WORST
undercoated vehicle made. I swear the guy who was on the left side of
the pit NEVER hit that vehicle with ANY undercoating....EVER. The PT
Cruiser looked like it was constructed with undercoating. There was so
much of it, it looked inches thick.
