ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 2:26 p.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 3:09 p.m. SANFORD - DEVELOPING: George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida, will be charged in the 17-year-old's death, a law enforcement official said Wednesday. Special prosecutor Angela Corey will announce charges against the 28-year-old Zimmerman at a 6 p.m. Wednesday news conference, the official with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press. Corey confirmed that an announcement on the case would be made in Jacksonville but didn't elaborate. The person said Zimmerman's arrest is also expected soon. The official didn't know the charge and spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information. - - - Gosh, when Zimmerman re-lawyers up, I hope he doesn't retain the firm of JustWait& Stupid. And to think, Zimmerman is the new darling of the right wing! Figures. Nobody here has defended him, we have defended his civil rights. Zimmerman has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder, He once again is being represented by competent counsel, Mark O'Mara. There's nothing going on in the legal system that is contrary to his civil rights. The process is in place. No one is so desperate they need you to "defend" them. |

I am just frustrated that this witch hunt will cost the Florida tax payers millions that could have been spent on more worthy projects (schools, roads etc) on a case that will probably fail. The first SA looked at the evidence and said it was a loser. I think he was right. The police report will be defense exhibit A and unless they can find something we have not seen so far to break Zimmerman's story, this could be dismissed at the end of the state's case for lack of evidence. This is pure election year politics. The only question is who it benefits. Whatever the outcome, Floridians deserve to get stuck with the millions this case will cost them because of the state's moronic "stand your ground" law and its loose controls over who can and who cannot purchase and carry handguns. Zimmerman has violence in his past. For reasons unknown the cases against him were not prosecuted properly. He should never have been able to carry a firearm. I hope Zimmerman gets nailed in a trial and is convicted of at least manslaughter with a firearm. Whatever else is involved, there is no disputing the fact that he shot and killed an unarmed teen-ager who was doing nothing more than walking through his neighborhood. The event was precipitated by Zimmerman. Do you really think you are sane enough to be carrying around a lethal weapon? There aint a heck of a lot of difference between you and Zimmerman. JPS should be all over you like stink on ****. I wonder why he isn't -- http://tinyurl.com/75bq9db |

I simply changed my mind. I think it reasonable to allow those without criminal records and those without serious psychological problems to own firearms. Those "rules," of course, would preclude you from owning a firearm. I see your buddy Oscar the Grouch is still in ****-stirring mode. He's in Florida, right? Perhaps he'll be taking a walk in his 'hood some sunny afternoon and give offense to a nutcase with a gun. That'll be the end of Oscar. |

In Maryland, the castle doctrine is not very inclusive. Basically you need to jump out a window if you can to retreat. Ooooo thats a stinker. Don't you mean casing the 'hood? When confronted, beat up a rent-a-cop? -- Liberal-socialism is a great idea so long as the credit is good and other people pay for it. Don't you mean casing the 'hood? When confronted, beat up a rent-a-cop? Martin was walking to his father's place after buying candy and a soft drink at a nearby convenience store. There's not the slightest evidence he was "casing" anything. And Zimmerman wasn't a rent-a-cop. Moron. |
