Default north chesapeake cruising?

Hi group,
I will be cruising the Chesapeake this weekend for the first time on my Regal
26' pocket cruiser w/ single 350 Mercruiser. This will be my first time on the
Chesapeake Bay. The plan is to put in at the Tidewater Marina in Havre de
Grace Friday morning, and cruise down to Annapolis for the sailboat show on
Saturday. We are hoping to find a mooring, or a slip for Friday night within
walking distance of the show.
How long is the trip from Havre de Grace to Annapolis? And can anyone
recommend a transient dock for Friday night? Is it possible to tie off at the
public docks for the night? If yes, are there any publics near the boat show?
Not much of a plan I know, but like I said, I have never been on the Chesapeake
before.

Mike Howard
