Don, I'm always impressed by your knowledge of US law, politics,

Haven't you heard me complaining about the flood of American tv that
we have to endure??

I feel your pain there but no one is forced to watch. I don't.

However, when I was a kid living on Lake Ontario in the summer, one of
our two TV channels came from Kingston, Ontario and it was not exactly
inspirational as I remember.

BTW.. I realize you were attempting sarcasm with your comments on my
knowledge of all things American, but what's with your comment that
I'm
"a person who has always lived in Nova Scotia ".
That sounds more like something a Doper might say.

I think he was just pointing out the obvious, that you have always lived
in a tiny little hamlet, read your tiny little hamlet newspaper, and
worked at your civil servant job in your tiny little part of the world.
Besides that, you really don't have any expertise or knowledge on any
subjects. I am sure you know more about Halifax than most of the other
people in rec.boats. You definitely read more of your hamlet's
newspaper than anyone else in rec.boats.

What can you expect from one who acquires his knowledge through 'the flood of American tv' he must
endure.

Clearly he should have spent more time watching Sesame Street and some
of the other PBS educational programming.

When I lived in Toronto, many days we could get a couple of Buffalo
channels. My fav was a SciFi called "Lost in Space", not shown in
Canada at the time.

Having lived in the US, Canadian TV is worse off for the CRTC. Outer
Limits had the opening messages right about controlling what you see and
hear.

No argument US media too is a government brainwashing and propaganda
machine, especially CNN. But CBC takes the cake.
