Assuming the part was 30 cents, how can you ship something half way around the world for virtually the same price as it costs to ship across a skinny state? US costs and wages are too high. Outside of US, everything is cheaper, capital costs, wages, taxes, utilities, materials.... Taxation for example is a multiplier of over valuation. $200/hr to clean teeth, government gets 1/2, doubles the cost of life. Necessitating inflated wages. My postal carrier said it is because the USPS does not get anything near the regular postage on imported goods. The US part of the trip is getting a special rate. There are a lot of people ****ed about this at USPS. Maybe the disk enclosure only cost them $0.03 to make? No idea. You're right though... China is just doing it's capitalistic best. I think some regulation is in order. |
