Default That tiny island in Bahia Honda State Park!

There's a little Island about 15k sq ft big (maybe bigger) just south
east of Bahia Honda State park around mile marker 30 of the Florida
Keys. The spot is a little touristy, as you might have to share it
with a person or two on a the weekend. However, I think it's a very
nice Atlantic kayak paddle and a great midway point to beach the Kayak
and snorkel around the island as it has an abundance of reef and wild
life - with thousands of live Conch shells (don't touch them please
it's illegal). I really like that spot - A great first adventure if
you ask me.
Anyways.. I'm about 2 hours north in Miami and it's really too far for
one day trip. I was wondering, does anybody know of any other spots
closer to Miami or Key Largo, where you can Kayak out and find
yourself on *secluded* beach, with some reef and wild life?

I'm also thinking about buying a small 5 seater jet boat, but you can
save me the 15k if I can find that spot and get to it via kayak.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

When I first read this, I missed the "k" part of the 15k sq ft. :-) A 15
sq. ft. island in the Keys sounds like paradise!!!!

This island is on the charts and I\ve seen many people wade out from Ohio
Key (next key above Bahia Honda) during low tide. The boat channel prevents
you from doing that from Bahia Honda. My daughter and I have spent many
afternoons snorkeling and critter-finding after paddling out to that island.
I venture we'll probably spend at least one afternoon on it sometime around
this Christmas.

Enjoy,
