Recommend this to everyone. But having seen it a few times I must admit
the best show was Allan Ellard fresh off a flight from the UK and Mike
Abbott's unrehearsed two man presentation of the story in the old cinema
in Murcheston New Zealand on New Years eve. The Kiwi/Brit version had
far less of the Hyped commentary the US version has. This just might be
a language thing - see the thread of the "Best White Water helmet". IMHO
the only time the American use of superlatives has been justified is
"The GRAND canyon"

On Friday, October 3rd at 7:30 pm Zoar Outdoor, Liquid Logic and
Lotus will sponsor Scott Lindgren and his film "Into the Tsangpo
Gorge" as part of the 1st Annual Whitewater Symposium. The film
will be shown on big screen at the historic Memorial Hall Theatre in
Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts as part of the 2003 Pothole Pictures
fall film series.

In the winter of 2002, Scott Lindgren, expedition leader and
videographer with six other accomplished kayakers successfully
paddled the first descent of the Tsangpo River in Tibet. According
to Lindgren, The Tsangpo goes through one of the deepest gorge in
the world splitting massive Himalayan peaks towering 25,000
feet. The Tsangpo River has never successfully been paddled until
this expedition led by Lindgren, who at age 30 has kayaked an
impressive list of big-water rivers in the Himalayas. "From a river
journey, the Tsangpo is one of the more formidable challenges", says
Lindgren. The gorge and surrounding peaks are considered a sacred
refuge to the Buddists.

The 2002 Outside Tsangpo Expedition was funded in part by Outside
Magazine, Outside Television and GM/Avalanche. The October 3rd
showing of the film is sponsored by Zoar Outdoor, Lotus and Liquid
Logic. The film is open to the public and tickets can be purchased
for $5/person at the door.

The Symposium scheduled for October 3 - 5th on the Deerfield River
is hosted by Zoar Outdoor. It seeks to advance the sport of
whitewater paddling by bringing together key players from all
aspects of the whitewater spectrum including freestyle, river
running, racing, rescue and rodeo. It is an opportunity for paddlers
to exchange ideas about trends in equipment, instruction and
technique.
