Almost everything has a political angle. The GOP is, indeed, planning to cut the warning service, along with a lot of other programs and services that protect people and property. Harry, i started this thread out of sympathy for the victims of natural catastrophe. i was hoping there wouldn't be any political finger pointing but unfortunately that's how the thread turned out Yes, you should have mourned Capt. A bit of reality: Snotty doesn't have the skills to qualify for *any* job with any of the building trades unions, and he's too old and too much of an asshole to get into an apprenticeship program. And any Job Corps instructor would toss him out of the program during the first week. |

I took a break from school when I was 20, applied for and tested against 150 other guys for an apprenticeship in the IBEW in LA. I thought I wanted to own and run generators for the movie business. I tested in 3rd out of the 150 guys but never got an opportunity to apprentice. I think they took one guy in over the next two years. I would have been happy to been a part and my life would have been very different, for sure. |
