lol, I do. but let's suppose a war ship captain saw what he believed
to be an abandoned half-sinking boat. Wouldn't that sight of a
sinking boat look like it may be a hazard to navigation? And suppose
the captain tried radio contact with negative results? Wouldn't it be
prudent of him to take action and send a few well placed rounds from
his 8 inch guns?
I can just see the reaction of the captain of the Love Love as he's
blown 500 ft in the air: ***"what da f**k was that?"***

You don't waste an 8" shell on a fiberglass rag merchant. You breakout
the .50's and give all of the GM's some time behind the handles.

Besides which ships in today's US Navy have 8" guns?
