After all y'all's comments about the 4WD, and the fact that I'm not too desirous
of a white truck, I went with this one:

http://tinyurl.com/2a7lejw

Hopefully they'll leave that page up for a few days.

I drove it home last night. It drives well. But, it's definitely in a bigger
league than the 4Runner.

Now if I can just find a nice place for the "Save the Bay" bumper sticker.

Hope you're having a great day!

It's supposedly the same length as my last truck, which left about three inches
to spare. I marked the side of a shelf so I'd know where to line the right
mirror up.

This thing even has a switch to pull the side mirrors in for clearance. Unreal.
I've not read the book yet, so I don't know all the features it's got. It looks
like it's going to be harder to figure out than a digital camera.

Would you do me a favor please? I forgot to get the measurement for the height
of the tow hitch from the 4Runner. Would you measure yours and tell me the
height from the center of the hitch opening to the ground. Carmax doesn't open
for another hour and even then I don't know if my 4Runner is still there.

TIA!

I am surprised that Paul hasn't said something to slammer. In fact, his

Just an observation, mind you.

I must have missed "slammer," unless he is e#c, in which case I've
already filtered him. In any event, my "efforts" here don't amount to
much, as I see from my filter log and from those quoting those in there
that a handful of the more obnoxious posters are still posting. I don't
think any efforts will succeed unless all of those who want a better
newsgroup do not respond in any way to the potty mouths, to those who
spend most of their time here insulting others, and to those who "spoof"
the IDs of other posters or their family members.

More importantly, the wind has kicked up and it looks like the Sound
will be snotty all weekend. That's not the weather I ordered.

Well, I am not clean here either but as long as we keep it where we are,
I am sure we will be alright. In fact, all of Harrys "headaches" have
taken him off their list, and it was actually interesting there for a
few with the BBQ talk.

I think Harry, you should post a few pics of your new boat and see how
it goes. Don't put yourself in there if you don't want. But a new
frekin' boat is the perfect test to see if this place is really making
the corner after ten frekin' years. And come on, who doesn't want to
show off a new boat...?

Well, you aren't going to be "clean" until you stop playing patty
fingers with the ID spoofers. Your penpal "Harry" is one of them.

I will engage legitimate posters who discuss boats or reasonable OT
subjects, and I'll be glad to do so, but I won't be posting any photos
or significant details here of the new boat.

I just talked with John today, and he and the Mrs. absolutely love the
truck. They took off with the trailer to go camping and the truck
absolutely had it's way with it.

It beats the 4-runner's 10 mpg in all towing categories.

14 mpg, with plenty of stability and gobs of power. Now he's thinking
on a 5th wheel set up and a larger camper.

I told him it could become addictive!

One problem with * dualies is that unless you're loaded with
something, they can be fairly worthless on snow, ice or even heavy
rain. *Too much flotation in the back end.

Of course, you might not have a problem w/that out on the east coast.

Never had a problem with that... the trick is narrow tires. Hugely
wide tires, the wider the better, make sense on sand, not so with the
Piedmont hard red clay and snow and ice....

Could be, Gene. i know of several guys ehre who have dualies who have
been stuck because mud caked up between the rims. Of course, if
you're in mud like that, then there's a lot of pilot error and
misjudgment, though. But where a normal 3/4 ton pickup would go, I
have witnessed people slipping and slithering around on snow with them.
