When you get the stains off, put a couple of coats of boat wax on the area that "attracts" the stains. -- Republicans are the Party of No: No Leaders / No Ideas / No Morals |

Fortunately, they build and repair boats where I dry store and they just gave me a small quantity. I think it only comes in the gallon size and that is pretty pricey. It is a VERY aggressive compound, so be careful. I used a real power buffer to accomplish the job, so if you try to use a higher speed wheel, be VERY careful of burning the gelcoat. Actually, this stuff cuts fast enough to use by hand. http://www.boatersworld.com/product/...ource =google Not sure what you have, but I had to touch up the bottom paint, too. i'll give the fiberglass stain remover a chance...even if it lightens it a bit it should be OK thank smuch |

Taht's always the problem I'[ve had with my v huls. the tank cap is in front of the drivers windshield, and so is the vent. fueling them is a pain because the pump[ is pumping then if not careful to shut the pump down before the filler neck is full, the pump handle makes a smard *click!* as the gasolinee comes puking back out of the top. OK so now it's full, but every jossle and gas comes dribbling out of the tank vent. i got to the point where I'd wash it as fast as I could with windshield washer and a wet cloth, but eventually I gave up trying to get rid of the stain every time I slopped gas on the hull. . But I'll detail them when I moth ball them for the winter. Bon-ami doesnt't do bad but really dulls the finish, so It'll get a good scrubbing then a wax job, and I doubt it will look good -as- new, but it'll be better'n what it was. |
