The problem with the bay is sea nettles. About the time the water gets
warm enough to get in, the sea nettles arrive. We used to joke that
you could see them from the road on that last hill before you drop in
on Chesapeake Beach.

You're right about the sea nettles and warm water in the bay. When there's not
been a lot of rain and the water temp goes up, the nettles become unbearable. In
the middle of this photo is an island with a nice little sandy beach. It's a
great place to hang out, but the nettles have driven us away. This one is just
north of Shady Side.
