Sailing, Sailing....
Ok, not so much.
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/y...00 390657.jpg Heh - typical launch ramp escapades. Launch the boat without taking off the bow line or the tie down straps, didn't lock the emergency brake and away they go. Even funnier - they panicked, started the engine and manuevered the boat into one of the empty slips, then cut the bow line and tie downs and the whole thing sank in 25 feet of water - all while drifting under the docks and boats. I've been boating since I was 12 and I've seen just about everything there is to see at a launch ramp, but it never fails to amuse me when things like this happen. |

Couple years ago, could not lauch for a couple hours at Santa Cruz ramp. Couple guys with a new RIB and new Expedition launch it all. 4x4 and did not engage 4x4 and SC has an expensive launch but they never power wash the ramp and low tide the algae is slippery. They do furnish wheel chocks. The problem was the Expedition was no it's side semi floating underwater and the divers were having trouble righting the vehicle so it could be towed out. Sad but funny. Just think of phone call home. Honey, could you please come pick us up, we sank the truck and trailer. Boat did float nose down until released. |

Don't know about you, but when I am watching a very dangerous event, unless I can do something to intervene, the first thing I do is get myself to a position of safety, and then, as my PO daughter and SIL advise, "just be the best witness you can be, writing down things, and remembering everything you can". And sometimes, when you watch the human comedy yes, it is hilarious. It is never funny to see people hurt, but it is sometimes downright hilarious to watch them play. What would YOU have done? What SHOULD the witnesses have done? Jumped in the water to stop the boat? Flung themselves under the wheels of the truck to stop it? I have helped and rescued a few people in my time, and even they had a good laugh after it was all safe and secure and even criticized themselves. Imagine that, if you can. What's that? You can't? sigh ......... Never mind. Steve |

You stated I sat "in judgment." That typically implies a lot more than being simply judgmental. Oh...I'm neither a believer in or follower of the teachings of Jesus in any sort of "religious" way, though I do believe he was a pretty cool dude, if he was here at all. In that regard, I'm not much different from many fundamental christians, who, by their actions, don't believe in Jesus or his teachings. It's very difficult for a rightie to be a follower of Jesus and his teachings. It's that compassion thing. |

Heh - typical launch ramp escapades. Why does it amuse you? What is funny about such a misfortune happening to others? Tell us, when you see someone having problems on a ramp, do you offer to help, or are you like that p.o.s. herring...you just sit there and watch and laugh? You are amused by other people's illnesses, asshole. Depends on who the other people are... So you sit in judgement of your fellow man? Â*I don't believe that was in the teachings of Jesus, was it? No, jackoff, I don't sit in judgment of anyone. D'oh. "You are amused by other people's illnesses, asshole." "Depends on who the other people are..." That is judgemental. Â*D'oh. You stated I sat "in judgment." By judging one, you sit in judgement. It's very difficult for a rightie to be a follower of Jesus and his teachings. Maybe, but you've demonstrated that lefties aren't capable of it at all. No matter... you may have broken one of the ten too much for *your* name to ever appear on the list. "Thou shall not lie." |

Shocking, simply shocking... There were two questions: 1. What's funny about a serious accident? 2. If you see someone at the ramp having problems, do you offer to help, or do you sit on your ass and laugh? Apparently, for some here, the answer to 2 is sit on your ass and laugh. I don't recall asking why Tom didn't try to stop the truck. Perhaps someday Tom will have a serious accident while towing, launching or retrieving his boat. Perhaps someday you'll hit a reef and your boat will sink. Be sure to let us know how funny you think it is. You REALLY oughta get a life. Must be miserable to be you. It's just that igmo went off on a rant about laughing at human comedy, and that one should never do it, even when the outcome is not serious or deadly. Pollyanna syndrome. Did you offer the tow truck driver your advice/help, or did you just sit on your ass, laughing your head off. Perhaps someday you'll have an accident with one of your boats, one that causes serious damage but no injuries. Take some photos, so we can all laugh at you. |
