Shocking, simply shocking... There were two questions: 1. What's funny about a serious accident? 2. If you see someone at the ramp having problems, do you offer to help, or do you sit on your ass and laugh? Apparently, for some here, the answer to 2 is sit on your ass and laugh. I don't recall asking why Tom didn't try to stop the truck. Perhaps someday Tom will have a serious accident while towing, launching or retrieving his boat. Perhaps someday you'll hit a reef and your boat will sink. Be sure to let us know how funny you think it is. You REALLY oughta get a life. Must be miserable to be you. So, we should add you to the list of assholes who think accidents that happen to others are...funny. Wait, you're already on the list of assholes. some accidents are because of extreme stupidity or carelessness. And they are funny. Look how popular America's Favorite Video show is. And the folks that enjoy that show will just have to be added to the infamous "list". How does AFV come into the picture here? They state that they do not accept videos that show people being seriously injured. Steve visit my blog at http://cabgbypasssurgery.com |

It's just that igmo went off on a rant about laughing at human comedy, and that one should never do it, even when the outcome is not serious or deadly. Pollyanna syndrome. Launch the boat without taking off the bow line or the tie down straps, didn't lock the emergency brake and away they go. Even funnier - they panicked, started the engine and manuevered the boat into one of the empty slips, then cut the bow line and tie downs and the whole thing sank in 25 feet of water - all while drifting under the docks and boats. I've been boating since I was 12 and I've seen just about everything there is to see at a launch ramp, but it never fails to amuse me when things like this happen. Other than that, I wonder how the rest of their day went? :-) We hollered at them not to cut the lines because the boat was the only thing holding the whole rig up off the bottom and the marina owner went to get his tractor so we could haul it out with chains, but they didn't listen. OH well... |

Anyway, alls well that ends well - nobody got hurt and that's the important part. Although Archie's launch ramp was closed for a while. The recovery was just as funny - I don't know where the boat owners found the tow guy but he was a freakin' moron. Tried to do a straight pull without a snatch block or two to keep the truck from drifting. |

Did you offer the tow truck driver your advice/help, or did you just sit on your ass, laughing your head off. Perhaps someday you'll have an accident with one of your boats, one that causes serious damage but no injuries. Take some photos, so we can all laugh at you. |

Oh well... some of life's lessons are free, and some are really expensive. That looked expensive, but I'll bet they won't do that again. |
