I hear being a general under Obama is a short term career job.

Guess he might as well polish up the fishing rods and go fishing.

If he's going to run his mouth, then yes, I'd say it's time to leave. I
know your head hurts by it, but the fact is that the general works for
the Commander-in-Chief.

Yep, there is only room for one big mouth in Obama's government.

Some 20 years ago I had a boss like Obama. Always shooting his mouth off
from day one. Clearly showing pretty quickly he didn't know much. About
2-3 weeks in he called me, the senior person of the crew and told me to
"Do as I tell you, not as you think.". I just got up, on the way out I
said I would be gone in a month.

I picked up the phone and I transfered out in 14 days. On the second week
he tried to talk me into staying, saying who is going to keep this going.
I just said, not my problem any more.

He ws fired in 4 months. He tried the same BS on the only other one that
knew jack crap about how things really worked and he too said enough was
enough.

The plant closed 8 months later.

The moral, if you **** off someone below you, make sure you can afford to
loose them or have them as enemies.

Moral of the story... you lost your job. I know you're bitter about it.

If the quotes we are hearing are correct, he was way out of line,
almost unbelievably so for someone in his position. Perhaps in his
subconcious mind he really wanted out of the job. Things like that
happen.

He was stuck with a reporter for a month because of the Iceland no fly
thing and I imagine some of the things he said were not really
intended for publication. I agree, a military guy does not really have
the freedom to speak candidly about the CnC.

I think there should be more speaking up. MacArthur was opening the pie
hole even against the Joint Chiefs of Staff on how to run the war. If
more generals had spoken up in 1965 era when I was drafted, maybe we would
have a hell of a lot names on the wall, and we would have been victorious
if at all possible. This guy was saying that Obama came to meetings
unprepared and his aids were total doofuses. Not on how we should be
dropping nukes, etc. per MacArthur. When he retires, I would like him to
speak up about the rules of engagement, and how they are killing our
soldiers.

Clearly, you know nothing about how the military has functioned in this
country for the last 200+ years.

Or perhaps he has had it with Obama's BS and wants out.

Bush fired or "retired" many generals for speaking out. I think Obama should
not fire him unless he believes that McCrystall can no longer do the job he
was assigned to do.

Obama's ego will cause McCrystal to be fired.

Obama's ego fades in comparison to the general's ego.
i'll be disappointed with Obama if he does not fire the guy.
Almost every hour, more revelations come out about the general,
revelations that have nothing to do with his insubordination. How he
arose to his present position is something that needs investigation.

I can't wait for McCrystal to have the freedom to speak his mind. I just
hope he doesn't suffer from a "fatal accident" before he gets to tell all.

Yeah, I'd love to hear more about his involvement in the Tillman
coverup, the prison torture issue, and his binge drinking incidents.

Insubordination? Did he disobey a direct order?

D'oh. Buy yourself a better dictionary. The definitions of
insubordination go beyond what you have offered here.
