Default from the boat

Well the marina has wi fi...if you're in a certain spot...so here's an
update from morrison's in beach haven, nj

friday...maintenance day. put in the new starter (THANKS TIM!)...and
this time used the lower helm station. worked GREAT. no problems. put
in a new zinc for the heat exchanger on the cooling system...mounted 2
new fire extinguishers to keep everything legal

then took her out for a spin. what a great day! sunny, about 75
degrees and no wind at all. went up and down the channel a few tims
to check steering. found a basin where the ferry boats dock and
practiced docking. this single engine boat steers like a dream. very
maneuverable but turning radius is BIG. corrected for prop walk when
backing down and it went into the slip like a fine motor car.

got it back to my dock, went right into the slip...nice end to the
day.

took the wife and 2 dogs out today....very windy. had been planning
to head down the ICW about 5 miles and go about 1/2 mile into the
atlantic just to say we'd been there. but the wind started to really
kick up so we headed back to the dock. came up the fairway and the
wind caught me...made it hard to dock so i turned the boat in its own
length (a trick learned from the coast guard boat crew manual), went
out and came back in.

wind was no better but i was able to put boat up against sea wall and
friends just walked it into the slip.

so, it was a very, very good day to be out on the boat. some anxiety
about the first cruise after the disaster last year, but the boat,
after all my maintenance, ran like a fine watch.

thanks to TIM who helped save me lots of time and MONEY...

boating is a HELLUVA fun hobby!

Sounds like you got the handle on it Bob - WHOO HOO!!

Now, you need to put up 30 feet of pole, a couple of VHF/UHF antennas
and head out and give some rare grid squares to the guys who chase
that stuff. :)

Glad to hear it all went well.

already looking for a spot for my 706 MKII G! Thanks much

Any extra credit for battery power on the VHF party? We've got enough
batteries on the GB to run all week end. :-)

Excellent, Bob! I'm really glad you had a blast, and glad I could be a
part of it.
