Instead of pumping 'mud into the thing and achieving bland results,
why doesn't BP try to clog up the pipe by cramming it full of tree
roots and a few tampons?

It works at my house!

Tampons? lol

How about inserting a metal device, much like a tampon that can slowly
expand until the pipe is sealed. Then put a new connection on the end of
the pipe with an extension to the surface, as they intend to do with the
top cap. Then, the device could be opened up and oil would flow again.

You mean like a BOP? (Barrack Obama Poop).

Hey man, you got a boat? are yo interested in boating? tell us about
your boating adventures. You gotta have some boating fun up there in
Canada., so tell us about it.

Simple questions deserve simple answers.

Canuck does not own a boat, and likely never has.
He claims to rent one from time to time.
He has no interest in boating.

Depends where in Canada. Where I am now owning a boat makes no sense.
3 small man made lakes exist all at least 3 hours away and on the
weekends you are lucky to get the boat into the water just in time to
wrap it up. And my main thrill of a boat is fishing. Be it salmon in
the Pacific or Michigan, but walleye and bass in NW Ontario has to be my
fav. A boat kind of locks you down in my situation.

And since I still work and my fav is 1/2 contenent away, I drive my F150
close and rent, hit the holes I like. A lot less hassle and less
depreciation. Plus the boats are better sized, I might want a 16' 20hp
or a 20' 135hp depending ont he lake I hit. And about 40 miles south
not too far from a local resevior, you can rent. But the water is muddy
and fishing restrictions are insane (unless you are a native).

Unlike on the dole hk, I still work so taking 5 months off to really
work a boat a fishing isn't really an option right now. And not sure
where we are going to retire yet, if Panama I don't think a 18' Traker
or Lund is going to work there. Might be better just renting local
charters every week.

Biggest thing I have ever in direct charge of was Shuswap Lake
houseboat. Easy as it gets. A barge really, and I was good at
kintetics so easy to do.

Used to sail but haven't done that for 18 years. Last did that in
Cancun about 1992 or so with my wife. Was a hoot. She thought I was
joking.

Grew up in NW Ontario, with endless summers on a lake... Grandparents
let me take out boats 20-30 miles up the lake to do walleye, bass,
whitefish, pike... those were the days. Today, letting a 7 year old do
this would be ostracised.

Bet if you put hk and I on Lake of the Woods at Whitefish Bay (or
somewhere else) with no compass and no maps I could make Kenora before
he woke up. And do it without trashing the boat. But I know Shebandowan
the best. If you know where to go, fishing is world class on that lake.

You are a write off. Most serious boaters I know tend to be self
sufficient conservative types. Or at least the ones that handle
themselves the best.

Tampons are tried and true. Engineers haven't quite figures out how to
get metel to absorb vast amounts of fluid.
