I'm sure there's idiots everywhere but when it comes to
institutionalized ignroance, nobody beats the south.

Isn't that stereotyping and prejudicial?
I live in FL and maybe 1 in 10 is from here and of the other 9, only maybe 2
are from anywhere other than the NE US.
I hear it's in the law that when a yankee retires, they have to move to FL,
buy white shoes, feed thier irrational fears of anything different and offer
advice on how everything is done 'up nawth'. ;-}
