news ![]() Is that $125k plus as some here say or is it less? You're up late! I'd say it could be. It depends on so many things... What if you made that much but had 12 kids? what if your spouse was sick and you had to give up all of your discretionary spending to pay the bills? I think it's not just about some dollar figure. If you lived in Beverly Hills and had a family, you would be considered poor. On the other hand, if you only make $30K/year, but live in a beautiful spot, grow or trade for food, are retired perhaps, you might not consider yourself poor. I think the equation changes dramatically when you make over $250K or even over $200K, but I don't think there's really a line in the sand. I've known really well-off people who considered themselves middle class (perhaps upper middle). I have some tenants who make under $50/year and have two developmentally challenged kids who definitely consider themselves middle-class. They have trouble with bills, even though they're getting a subsidy. Very nice, warm, caring people though. -- Nom=de=Plume |
