Larry Striped bass are the big draw, along with trout and flounder. IIrc these are the same striped bass that show up around here later in the season. If they are, they are known for going some 40+ miles up the Connecticut River, way beyond the salt or brakish water areas. Brown trout can live way down by the shoreline too, not sure how far they actually swim out into the Sound, but I have caught them a few hundred yards up river from the Sound. Lake Lanier is full of 'em as are most southern lakes. Are they all the same striped bass? The same we catch in the Mississippi? I dunno. The ones we get up here are pretty big, the Connecticut record is 75 pounds, but of course that is not typical. The limit here lately has been in the mid to low thirty inches for keepers, I forget, I will have to check the regs again this season if I go.
