Oh... I wouldn't use a downrigger when trolling for couches...

Make sure you put your name address, and phone number on said couch.

Jack,
I was commenting on your response:

"With homeland security, U.S. Coast Guard. Maybe they are monitoring this
group for complete morons willing to dump garbage in the sea. Where we get
our food and pleasure from. If they are. I hope you go to jail, and rot
there till you can no longer pose a menace to society, and the boating
public."

I would appear that you are already condemning Scott as if he had
already dumped it rather than just asking the question. How considering that
this wasn't a troll post, I could see where, when we're sinking ships as
artificial reefs (of course properly prepared), someone might ask in all
seriousness if dumping the sofa was okay.

BTW I also contribute to one of your mentioned conservation groups. I
think conservation is a fine thing as long as not taken too far. I'm sure
these zealots that are going around burning SUVs also see themselves as
conservationists.

No I guess I am not. Considering I support a clean ocean. I belong to

the
following groups.
Ocean Futures Society
Sierra Club
National Ocean Service
National Coalition for Marine Conservation
The Ocean Conservancy
I just hate stupid people thinking the ocean is a dumping ground.

I take it you're not into forgiveness?

Hmm, where in the hierarchy would the driver of a twin engined boat (dual
350s -- like two SUV engines) place?

It is large heavy and ugly.
I was thinking of going into 40 foot or deeper water and heaving it over the
side. Does anyone have a problem with this?
In a few years the metal frame would be gone and of course the wood and
cloth would rot as well. It is an old sleep sofa and IMO, too hard to lug
back up the dock.

Do you have a good GPS? Just mark the spot and come back next year to
your own artificial reef. I know some folks who have been dumping
stuff for years to make their own secret "fish havens".

Nope. Sorry I can't help.
I would expect it to be similar to Upper Saranac, Big Tupper and
Raquette, but it does get a lot of tourist pressure during the season.
All those floatplanes, y'know?

That late in the season, pike might be the most fun.

You know they dump bargeloads of trash into the water.
And they have been doing it for decades. The seas are littered with
garbage.
