... Record snowfall forecast in the Baltimore-Washington DC region...

... Extremely dangerous winter weather conditions developing tonight...

Gusty northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with visibilities frequently
falling below one-quarter mile due to heavy snow will develop
tonight to produce near-blizzard and extremely hazardous winter weather
conditions tonight through Saturday morning. Travel is highly
discouraged tonight and will be very dangerous.

Looking back at the biggest storm of record for Washington DC... the
January 1922 Knickerbocker storm... 28.0 inches of snow was
produced from 3.02 inches of liquid water. Current forecasts for
this event have total liquid falling from this storm approaching 3
inches... which accordingly would create a snowfall that will rival
the Knickerbocker storm total. Generally across the region... 20 to
30 inches of snow will fall by Saturday evening...

It's starting to snow here, but here in the middle of the midwest I
think we're only gonna get about 3" out of the front. But you never
know....

28" is a lot! though.

We've got between 1" and 2" now, I would guess.

Looked like this in the backyard a bit earlier...

It has been a horrible winter for golf. The weather and my expanded roll
at work has been killing my ability to take off time during the week to
play when the weather does cooperate.

If you worked for yourself, you could figure out a way to take time off
when you wanted, and on short notice. Over the next couple of days, I'll
be booking a fishing trip in a much warmer latitude. No need to show up
at anyone's office when I can email in the projects for which I get paid.

We didn't have much accumuliatin last night, but this morning my car
doors were froze tight. I didn't want to break off the drivers side
door handle, but I was able to get a back door loose with a slight bit
of contant tugging. reached in and started the car then went back in
the house for baout 15 minutes till the ice was melting on the windows
fairly well. Drivers side opened reasonably easy then.

It's now warming up a bit and the sroad slush is terrible!

You are lucky you have been able to play at all. Our riding season
stopped December first and we don't expect to see the track open mid
April but two years ago the floods kept it closed until mid May! When I
was younger it was "fun" to go to the gym, now it's just a chore. But we
learned last year not to sit around during the off season.

If I were in your shoes, with a dirt bike and all, I'd hop on it and
ride down to Virginia to help old folks shovel their driveways. Yup,
that's what I'd do alright. Only a wimp wouldn't do something like
that.
