I often wonder why Canada was so scared to break away from Great Britain. Heck, it wasn't till 1967 that we became an independent country. I heard from a good friend who was a diplomat, that it was Britain that decided who forced Canada to separate and stand on their own two feet. Try 1982. Before that Canada was an official colony of the British empire. Known as the Dominion of Canada... Too bad we didn't run off the French and joined the US. Or in at least oust Sir John A MacDonald drunk politician for hire, and gone independent. But couldn't find enough with spine I guess. Too many scots and french. |
