On local tv news, on air talent said Canadians had already donated 145
million to Haiti...which equals the amount donated by 'mericans. Who would have thought? Americans would have to donate 1.5 billion to equal Canadian generosity. |

I realize that the local TV news was wrong, and I see that Americans have donated way more than Canadians. I guess it really is true that Canadians suffer from a severe case of 'merican inferiority' when even the local TV compares our achievements to 'mericans. We are a really sad country. |

We have far less disposable income than Americans. Less room to give. And we have dropped off food already, which is more important than money if your starving. Give it 6 months and the gangs will rule again, the drug trade will revive and business as usual. Because if we really cared about Haiti they woul dhave had martial law and birth control 2 decades ago. |

Yesterday I saw them handing out bags of rice (50 lbs would be my guess) from a truck to folks on the ground. When a person on the ground got a bag, there'd be a fight to take it away from him, and the baddest guy would get the food. I'm sure he'd take it and try to sell it. Seems like they'd learn not to do it that way. Don't know who it was, Americans or someone else. Really stupid though. -- "Your honor can never be taken from you. But John, there is no need for security in Haiti for the aid workers or the people. Everyone will be happy to have the assistance and share it with each other. The problems in Haiti cannot be solved by flooding the country with food, water and medical help. Haiti needs some 'tough love', but then, so does downtown Detroit, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC. -- "Your honor can never be taken from you. Cherish it, in yourself and in others." This would only work if the truck was there everyday passing out the small rations. |

Or I am going to have the local military guy shoot you dead. |
