BOSTON (The Borowitz Report) - Firing up voters on the eve of the
special election to fill the late Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat,
Republican candidate Scott Brown spoke at a campaign rally today,
proclaiming, "With your help, our dream of depriving millions of
health care is within reach."

"Let's send a message, Massachusetts!" Mr. Brown exhorted the crowd.
"Let's tell people across the country that if they want health
coverage, they are **** out of luck!"

An aide to Mr. Brown said that internal polling reveals that the
Republican's anti-healthcare message may be catching on: "Right now,
Scott is showing a double-digit lead among people who describe
themselves as douchebags."

when the people of MA give up their healthcare, let me know

YOu pay for that mandatory healthcare. It is not free.

We also have a huge group of 3rd world people living here. We seem to be
one of the only large countries in the world who look the other way with
illegal immigration, or who allow sick people entry.

"It's expensive to provide this kind of health care and social
support. France's health care system is one of the most expensive in
the world."

"To fund universal health care in France, workers are required to pay
about 21 percent of their income into the national health care system.
Employers pick up a little more than half of that. (French employers
say these high taxes constrain their ability to hire more people.)"

With France's mean income tax rate hovering around 50%, you can hardly
say they're doing "OK".

You should move there. The taxes you'll pay will give you something
new to whine about.

Believe it or not, the pursuit of wealth is not the be all and end all of
life. In many European countries, the average person is far better off in
many ways than the average American in terms of health, educational
opportunities for their kids and themselves, retirement, vacation, et
cetera. Many Europeans have the sort of social welfare underpinnings that
help provide a decent life.

A good health care insurance program for a working family in this country
costs about $12,000 a year. This is for a family without a lot of excess
income, a family that hasn't the ability to put away thousands of dollars
in a medical savings account or in a method to defray high deductibles.
That's 20% or more of income.

Part of the problem we have in this country is that our taxes allow the
accumulation of massive amounts of wealth. All income should be taxable
during the working years, and the rates should be sharply progressive.

Especially when the US is conducting an expensive overseas war.

The strange thing about this is that is what the current health care
bill caps rates at so if this is horrible, the health care bill is
horrible isn't it?

*My* health care bill would have gotten rid of for-profit health
insurance companies.

Unfortunately, no one cares about my opinion at all. I am just a obese
old man. My dad would be very disappointed with what I have done with
my life.

I'm not a huge fan of the current bill in the Senate, but I think the key
word is "caps."
