Default Stupid geese!

I was just outside and saw a huge V of high- flying geese headed
north.

NORTH???


It's 10 degrees outside! I thought they were supposed to be flyng
south.

Where are you? Probably non-migratory canadian. They just wander
around where they live. Created by the misguided effort to regenerate
migratory populations of canadian geese by hatching them in the US.
Since they were not raised by their parents, they never learned to
migrate.

Those are Canada geese. All the geese in Canada of every species, are
Canadian. If they cross the border, they are American geese.

Geese will hang around all winter if they have open water and can find
something to eat. Maybe those geese were heading for a picked
cornfield. They cruise at fifty or so, they can make it from Canada to
Mexico in one day. They can split for the coast anytime. They fly as
high as 27 000 feet, you know they can take the cold. That is in what
the climbers call the Death Zone, where you die without bottled
oxygen, but they have lungs of titanium or something.

Yup, it's the food sources that drive the birds south, not the cold.
Hell, down is very good insulation.

yeah, i live on a lake here in PA. it's 12 degrees outside and the
geese are all over the place.
