Excellent! I see their point in that it's cheaper to update, then to
scrap and rebuild. I know we do some, but i don't know why we can't do
more of that.

Tim, you ignorant slut. Metal ships cannot be repurposed because the
stress points in the hull would split from fatigue if the
superstructure exceeds 73% of waterline from transom to bow sprit.

Any modern vessel requires a superstructure that would easily exceed
4/5ths of the waterline.

Time to brush up on your periodic table Timmy.

Your forgot about this one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Constitution

It's still technically "in service" as a commissioned US Naval warship.

I suppose, but the last time it "sailed" to Marblehead it was under
tow and damn near sank. :)

You would too if you were 213 years old and had cast iron balls.

Is she really going out to meet the enemy on the high seas?

She is a symbol and not usable fighting vessel.

The thought has crossed my mind from time to time. Don't know yet. Very
busy with
the guitar shop, but have hired a couple of people to help out. Crazy
business, but fun.
Despite the economy, it's holding it's own and growing.
