I went out to see what was going on and they said there were a couple of guys in kayaks lost in the river. I asked if they wanted to go look for them and we went in my boat. The rest is history http://www.nbc-2.com/Global/story.asp?S=11736281 Nobody else was willing to try to get a boat out across that flat. The CG was sitting out in the channel about 2 miles away. Sissies! They had at least 12-14" of water if they knew where the deep spots were., I got out there with 3 firemen, bags of rescue stuff, 2 kayaks and 2 kayakers on board. What's the matter with those guys? * *;-) That chubby firelady said in the newsclip she "commandeered" your boat. Did she sit on you to get the keys? That Panga looks pretty good. * Is this it? http://www.pangamarine.com/marquesas_specs.html 8" draft. I was looking at them, but saw no advantage over a Carolina Skiff. --Vic The chubby fire lady wasn't there. My boat wasn't "commandeered". I offered to go look for the kayakers and said they could come along. They have updated the story from this morning. Originally the news geeks didn't know the FD had a new boat. I bet fire lady called them and told them. I did make arrangements with the battalion chief last night to let them use our ramp so they have a way to float that boat without driving 20 miles or ****ing off a mile of homeowners by WOTing through their no wake zones if they launched at the park up on 41. They would still have to get a ranger to let them in. I still wonder how well these guys would do poking around here in the dark. Just because it says there is "water" on your GPS might not mean it is 8" of water. ;-) Yep... they took your quote and cameo out of the video, and inserted pics of their new boat. They'll be afraid to take that up the river... wouldn't want to scratch it up, you know! |
