Healthcare Bill

Well, it looks like a few Republicans were able to stack enough pork
into the healthcare bill that it will now pass.

Like this?

"For example, Georgia and most states will face billions of dollars in
massive unfunded mandates to cover the cost of the proposed expansion
of Medicaid contained in the bill. However, in order to win the vote
of Senator Ben Nelson, D-Neb., Reid inserted a provision in the bill
that says the federal government would cover the cost of all new
Medicaid beneficiaries in Nebraska, saving that state tens of millions
of dollars."

Maybe Loogy thinks Reid was handing out pork to the Republicans to
keep them from voting 'aye'?

My question for the Democrats would be, "If the bill is so ****ing
good, why did Reid have to pay the Democrats so much to vote for it?"

John, are you trying to say that the Republicans didn't put pork into
the bill?

This will be interesting. I don't know who stuck what into who, but.

Anyway, Will "coverage" mean "health care?"

I'm wondering if it will be two different things.

Loogy, are you saying that the Dems didn't pass out tons of pork
bribes to other Dems in back room deals to secure the needed votes?

From Newsmax:

Healthcare Pork: Senate Bill Laden with Favors, Pet Projects for
Democrats

WASHINGTON – The little town of Libby, Mont., isn't mentioned by name
in the Senate's mammoth health care bill, but its 2,900 citizens are
big winners in the legislation, thanks to the influence of Finance
Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.

After pushing for years for help for residents, many of whom suffer
from asbestos-related illnesses from a now-closed mineral mining
operation, Baucus inserted language in a package of last-minute
amendments that grants them access to Medicare benefits.

He didn't advertise the change, and it takes a close read of the bill
to find it. It's just one example of how the sweeping legislation
designed to remake the U.S. health care system and extend coverage to
30 million uninsured Americans also helps and hurts more narrow
interests, often thanks to one lawmaker with influence or bargaining
power.

I'm not kidding one little bit. Why, do you find it just incredible
that the republicans would put pork in a bill????
