Gene, I don't think most people here get the fact that the way we
celebrate Christmas in modern times has just about NOTHING to do with
Christianity.

You feel that way because you see Christmas as a tree and presents. You
are not qualified to judge Christians on this particular issue really,
your rhetoric along with Harry and Gene make clear that you don't
understand. Cool, no problem, next why don't you three old white guys
get together and solve that whole reproductive rights issue snerk

How do you purport to know about whether or not I'm qualified to
remark on this or any other issue? As a matter of fact, my wife's
first cousin, Fr. Bryan yes, a priest, and also a REAL Dr. of Clinical
Psychology has had numerous discussions with me about this very topic.
Including the pagan aspect, and how the modern way of celebrating has
very little to do with Christianity. Hell, nobody even knows when
Jesus was born. December 25th? In ancient Babylon, the feast of the
Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25. Raucous
partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were
traditions of this feast.

And you purport that these are "your" words:

"Raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were
traditions of this feast."

Try Googling:

Raucous partying, gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift-giving were
traditions of this feast.

Google - anybody can use it.
A greater equalizer than the Colt .45 here.
Hey Duck, how's the golfing?
Still haven't tried that pizza joint you recommended.
But I will.

Golf is great, albeit in some people mind it's a useless waste of time.
I enjoy it, that's good enough for me. Played at 7:30 this morning
and teeing off again in about 90 minutes.

You had to mention pizza. Oh how I long for a Chicago thin crust pie.

If you walk the course while playing, instead of riding in a cart, golf
is a great way to get some healthy exercise and even commune with a bit
of nature. Golf courses in places where nature can sustain them easily
are a good thing.

Where are you playing? It was an ear muff day in Alexandria, VA,
today! Just can't wait for a few more freezing days to get the ground
nice and frozen. Three hundred yard drives will be the norm.
