I just heard Carly Fiorina announced she's running against Boxer.

She did such a great job running McCain's finance committee until she made
some stupid comment and got canned.

She was the worst CEO at HP ever. Absolutely horrible. Friends of mine were
literally dancing on their desks when she got canned.

She has quite a future getting canned some more.

It was last held by three different Democrats from January 3, 1979
through January 3, 1993.

How does she keep getting elected?

Oh wait - San Francisco - that explains everything.

I'll have you know, that I do *NOT* live in San Francisco. I live in San
Jose. The only time I ever go up there is when we have out of town guests,
and they insist on a visit.

Actually SF is nicer than SJ to visit. And I have worked in both.

Yeah, but... the *area* hasn't elected a Democrat since sometime in the
1800s. The 23 District moves around. At one time it was part of
Manhattan.

I used to be in Maryland's 8th Congressional district. But, the
Democrats in Maryland wanted to get Chris Van Hollen elected to Congress
so the redistricted Connie Morella out and my area got put into the 4th
Congressional district. We didn't move, we just got redistricted from a
majority Republican district to a majority Democrat district.
Gerrymandering of Congressional districts is State House sport that
occurs every 10 years. Elections do matter.

Same here in Calif. The District that has most of the silicon Valley in it
also has a 2 mile wide swath over hwy 152 to include Livingston, CA. Which
about 100 miles across the San Joaquin Valley.

Yeah but Gerrymandering is only a crime in red states like Texas...
Pffffttt... And especially with a do nothing congress trying to keep
from doing any real work..

Calif. voted to stop legislators for gerrymandering like this. The next
redistricting will be done by regular citizens.

SF is an amazing place. If I didn't work at home in the forest, I'd move
there over any other city.

Live there? No way. Crappy weather, crappy politics. But a fun place to
visit. I grew up across the bay and moved over the hill to a place that is
not foggy 1/2 the year. I worked there and graduated university there, and
still own property there. Just do not get me started on the Assessors
office. But a crappy place to live. Unless you were maybe 21-28 and high
income.

True, but should have been the law a long time ago.
