"We had one race that we were engaged in, it was in northern New York,
it was a race where a Republican has held the seat since the Civil War" Um...no? It was last held by three different Democrats from January 3, 1979 through January 3, 1993. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York's_23rd_congressional_district How does she keep getting elected? Oh wait - San Francisco - that explains everything. |

At one time it was part of Manhattan. |

Fine - 1979 to 1983 which was the last time it was "stable". And it's always been called the 23rd. So there. Neener, neener, neener. :) I mean seriously - yeah but? It works both ways. :) |

I used to be in Maryland's 8th Congressional district. But, the Democrats in Maryland wanted to get Chris Van Hollen elected to Congress so the redistricted Connie Morella out and my area got put into the 4th Congressional district. We didn't move, we just got redistricted from a majority Republican district to a majority Democrat district. Gerrymandering of Congressional districts is State House sport that occurs every 10 years. Elections do matter. Same here in Calif. The District that has most of the silicon Valley in it also has a 2 mile wide swath over hwy 152 to include Livingston, CA. Which about 100 miles across the San Joaquin Valley. Yeah but Gerrymandering is only a crime in red states like Texas... Pffffttt... And especially with a do nothing congress trying to keep from doing any real work.. -- Wafa free again. |

She hasn't gotten to where she is by being stupid. There is an argument that can be made that Bush Jr. did get to be president by being stupid. He did nothing before except failing businesses, any success coming from family influence, and then there's the baseball team that received public funding for the new stadium. If he had a known past he never would have been considered. Nancy Pelosi's is easily looked up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Pelosi She has been a public figure for a long time. In a book everyone should read, "Crazy for God," by Frank Schaeffer, it is noted that the Bush parents considered Jr to be incapable of anything. And his presidency proved it. Republicans spend way too much energy deamonizing their opponents. Some people believe it. Go ahead and prove me right with your comments. |
