Looks like I'm stuck here for now... two huge trees got blown over the
access road. We're having 60 mph winds today and tonight forecast. Fortunately, the house is protected with UPS, so I can still work, but I was supposed to go out with friends. My neighbor said he's come by and chainsaw them so I can get out, but that'll be tomorrow. It's too dangerous to be out right now. I'm amazed nothing has hit the house that's bigger around than a baseball bat (10 or so hits so far). The little lake is all stirred up, and it looks like someone's dinghy is sunk next to the dock. -- Nom=de=Plume |

I like getting out in nature, not getting onto crowded slopes. Of course, the lodge for a hot drink is nice from time to time. -- Nom=de=Plume |

We were in your neighborhood on vacation a month or so ago. Mammoth and Squaw Valley. We came in over Tioga Pass. after poking around Sequoia, King's Canyon and Yosemite It's a beautiful area. I'm somewhat near that area, but not really that close. -- Nom=de=Plume |

They're generally big enough to get everything shut down properly. We're gettin' some wx here as well. --Mike |

I have a big battery bank (8D-size? - they weigh a ton each - I can't even move one) that can run the whole house from solar panel charging for quite a while, plus I have a 3000 Honda generator that can run things for about 12 hours if necessary. The solar panel is an 8kw system, which was expensive, but I got a state rebate. Everything switches automatically (not the generator), but there's still a pause, so I also have my main computer with its own UPS. That one is an APC 1500. -- Nom=de=Plume |

We've got a couple of 1500s at the office. Good for an hour or two depending on load. |
