This happens far too often, running too fast at night. You wonder why no one has ever, at least considered, putting some headlights on boats. I have a set of remotely operated spots on the bow of the Grady and one under the T-top of my Ranger that I use on really dark nights when I need to find something against a dark shoreline. The problem with operating headlights, I suspect, is night blindness caused by bright lights. I know from my days on the rigs and running the Venice Canal that when you get hit with a strong white light on a dark night, your night vision is shot to hell for a while. I dunno - maybe it's something that needs to be researched. |
