A story with a better though more costly ending. At work, I accidently destroyed an x-ray detector. These things have an x-ray "window" that is absurdly expensive made by a tiny company in Utah who has a patent on the process. These "windows" sell for a few thousand dollars each and are 4 mm diameter and .3 micron thick polyimide (yes, that is really 3 tenths of a micron). When they break, the cost to replace them is normally about $10,000 considering the labor of installing them and the risk of breaking one during the install. I desperately needed my detector so resigned myself to paying at least $10,000 and sent it off to a company called TNAS. Thye could have very reasonably said the window was broken and charged me for an absurd price. Instead, they fixed it for $2300 telling me that miraculously the fragile window did not break. So, I salute an honest company and will send them a lot of business. |

Sheesh... potentially spending a night in jail over $129??? -- Nom=de=Plume They have you arrested, they are going to be losing a lot of their profit. Maybe. Is it worth the long hassle, the fingerprinting, angry people with guns? All over $129? Feel free, but I'll pass. -- Nom=de=Plume |

What was the most fun was the shocked look on the managers face when he said "I didn't want to embarrass you by discussing this issue inside near other people.." and I replied "I don't embarrass easily so let's go back inside and discuss it in front of your customers". He freaked and said we could not go back inside. |

Basically, you proved to yourself you're superior? Sounds like a testosterone thing. I guess I just don't get it. -- Nom=de=Plume |

What's funny is that Froggy didn't have the skills it takes to satisfactorily resolve a minor problem. He should have enlisted JustHate or Loogy...they would have threatened to beat up the manager. -- Birther-Deather-Tenther-Teabagger: Idiots All |

He got tossed down the steps at his local cop shop by...the cops. Does not matter. They have you arrested for complaining, and not telling you to leave the store. They will be financially hurt. |
