I was not aware that there were Black family that also moved to NS. They may have been the black slave owners who moved to NS. That was my first thought, too..... most Yankees don't even know there was such a thing! My favorite part about touring any plantation in the south is that you always hear about the good slave owners, especially this guy in South Carolina near Charleston who was a preacher. He was a good slave owner because he taught the slave children how to read the bible. Freaking unbelievable that the docents would try and push that crap off on those taking a tour. There were no "good" slave owners, anytime, anywhere. That should be "There are." Slavery is still practiced today in Africa, the Middle East and Asia and in parts of Eastern Europe. I am still trying to figure out why you, Harry, are not actively working towards the complete and total abolition of slavery world-wide? http://www.antislavery.org/english/s...y/default.aspx There's plenty of slavery in the United States...exploited adult workers, exploited child labor, mandatory unpaid overtime, et cetera. Given, there is real slavery abroad, but there is plenty of economic slavery right here in the good old USA. |
