Default Outboard hydrofoils mounted on anticavitation plates

Some people think these are great and some think they are a waste of money
to mount on an outdrive or outboard. Vote to use or not use on a pontoon
boat for waterskiing?

They are to help a boat get up on plane. Sort of like trim tabs. I do not
think they will help at all on a pontoon boat.

I agree. I nave never seem it and we have a bunch of pontoon boats
here. Pontoons are really not that good a ski boat since they are
pretty slow to come up on the step. We do have a lot of folks dragging
around tubes tho.

OK. I have a 60hp motor and my friends want to waterskii but the boat I
have is what I have. I told them the same things. Thanks guys.

You might be able to ski anyway if you can find a pair of longer,
wider skiis somewhere. It might also help to go with a lower pitched
prop.

Worthless. I took the one that was installed on my son't 26' pontoon
('70 Johnson two stroke) and the performance was much better.

When I swapped out the lower leg on my Alpha 1, I didn't re-install
the fin. and honestly i can't tell that it made a difference in the
steering, but the boat seems to plane easier.
