Read up on the "southern strategy." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy My, how this brings back memories! It reminds me of the times I would engage enraged progressives on Moorelies.com and buttress my arguments with articles from wikipedia. Concordantly, my antagonists would chide me for citing a source of such dubious quality. Those were the days, weren't they? I do like the deft use of a particular qualifier in the first sentence of the Southern Strategy article, "In American politics, the Southern strategy refers to a purported Republican method of winning Southern states..." "Purported," is such a robust and appropriate word. -- Posted via NewsDemon.com - Premium Uncensored Newsgroup Service -------http://www.NewsDemon.com------ Unlimited Access, Anonymous Accounts, Uncensored Broadband Access |

Media Monitor Jon, who holds it down daily on YouTube at NewsPoliticsNews, has the completely depressing clip, which shows an Israeli man holding forth on the virtues of Israel's health care system, which is "universal and compulsory, and is administered by a small number of organizations with funding from the government." I have no basis to judge its merits -- in 2000, the World Health Organization ranked it as the 28th best in the world. That said, let me sum up the countering argument, proferred by another town hall attendee: "Heil Hitler!" That's right! Some idiot woman yells "Heil Hitler" at a Jewish man who was doing nothing more than being a passionate advocate for Israeli health care. The man, quite naturally, goes completely apoplectic, saying "Shame on you" over and over again. The woman counters by saying, "Well, you ought to be the most against President Obama." The poor man responds by saying, "I want to talk, not against Obama or for Obama. I want to talk about [health care]." He goes on to describe his own experiences with high-cost health care. For his efforts, the woman mocks him some more! As ThinkProgress points out today, "Conservatives have strenuously denied that there is any anti-Semitism on display by anti-health reform protesters at town hall meetings nationwide." Those denials are no longer tenable, are they? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHsUi...eature=channel Another hasty generalization. Everyone is prone to positing the occasional informal fallacy. The Left does it so well, though. Please re-read your post. Pot, giant pot, black. And blind to boot. Do you live in a bum**** town surrounded by hicks? I know you're in the fiancial services/insurance industry so it doesn't surprise me that you hold these foggy views. Yes, I did as you requested. I re-read my post, and I was struck by the appreciable apercu. It is just as piquant as the incessant drumbeat coming from the Left that insinuates, daily, that opposition to comprehensive heath care reform as directed by the Obama administration is, among other things, rooted in racism, a strawman argument. It's as illustrative as your use of the circumstantial ad hominem. I wonder if you can point to where you used your particular fallacy or even if you're willing to do so. Gobbledegook. Does your body contort while composing these ponderous lines? It made me laugh that you'd accuse leftists of hasty generalizations while the whole world watches the idiots packing heat and unfounded ideas to these town halls. You immediately went on to say how well the "left" jumps to conclusions without giving the right its fair due. How utterly blind of you. You show no sense of context. |

How ponderous is your sentence that iterates how I state that the Left jumps to conclusions without giving the Right its fair due? So is it that it is my contention that the Left is prone to fallacy and that the Left doesn't take the Right to task for the Right's own foibles? Or is it that I'm too willing to indict the Left without examining also the flaws inherent in the Right? Or is it that the occasional liberal can admirably dangle a participle? How utterly blind of you. You show no sense of context. I beg to differ. You can redeem yourself by pointing out your own use of the circumstantial ad hominem. -- Posted via NewsDemon.com - Premium Uncensored Newsgroup Service -------http://www.NewsDemon.com------ Unlimited Access, Anonymous Accounts, Uncensored Broadband Access |
