My wife is taking me to California and I hear the water in Tahoe is
pretty cold. I don't plan on jumping in anyway.
60 degrees at the surface yer round.
Nope I am not sticking a toe in that.
I'm an 80 and over guy, we like 85.

Take a cruise on the Tahoe Queen or the other paddlewheeler. Nice cruise of
the lake, and stops at Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay.http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=506

We boat there once in a while.

Notnow: Thanks for the tip, I dunno how much time we will have. It
is a 10 hr drive from here.

My pleasure. It's a nice drive, and not much more time wise than if you
take 25 up from Greenville.

I experienced some cold water this evening.

the water heater in the garage quit last week so until I get a new
heating element, after work showers are a bit nippy.

Both elements went out?

If it is just the top one you can jumper out the top thermostat and
run off the bottom one.

I know, but this is a single element 15 gal. job.

I bought one of those tankless water heaters and still have it in the
box. It's tiny and mounts on the wall so I will gain some space in the
garage. My conventional unit is 12 years old and could die any day.
The problem is the wiring. I have to get a nice, non-union, electrician
to run some fat wires about 15 feet to run it. I don't mess with
anything above 120V.

15? Damn, that's small for a house in your climate. My office has one
that size. Does that hold up for two showers? I have a 40 gal and the
water enters it at over 65º all year.

a contributor here in reek.boats and I were talking about those a few
days ago.

His is operated with gas, though.

I'm investigating the on-demand heaters though. sounds better than
cooking water 24/7

I have a heated garage, that we could actually live in. concerning
the water heater, mine is a simple 120v, that hides neatly under the
counter in the garage. it's all it's used for , for me to take a
shower and clean cook-out utensils.

Slide in camper weighs roughly 900 lbs. I levered it up and slid 2"
rollers made from pvc pipe under it to roll it out of the carport.
This went well. The job now is to get it up onto the truck. The
camper jacks will not go down far enough to allow me to lift it from
the ground with them. So, I tried to use an inclined plane made from
2 4"X4" X8' posts, couldnt get it up onto the ramp well and then could
not get rollers under it.
Plan B. Gonna lever it up bit by bit getting it onto concrete blocks
till it is high enough for the jacks to operate. Of course it is 100
effin degrees out and 99% humid.

Only hebrews around are married to my sisters and ther'd be hell to
pay if one of em hurt his back.
My 23 yr old daughter looked it over and suggested a way and we made a
little progress getting onto the ramp with just her and I.
